Paul has dedicated more than 20 years to the voluntary sector, championing opportunities for young people and supporting disadvantaged communities across West Cumbria. Following his graduation from university in 2003, he relocated to West Cumbria, where he gained extensive experience through both paid and voluntary youth work roles. During this period, he also completed a Graduate Diploma in Youth and Community Work at St Martin’s College, achieving JNC-qualified Youth Worker status.

In 2005, Paul was appointed Manager of The Phoenix Youth Project, serving the communities of Cleator Moor and Frizington, a role he continues to hold today. Throughout his career, he has developed significant expertise in youth services, community development, governance, and grant-making.

Paul has played an active role in numerous local and regional organisations. He has served as a co-opted member of the West Cumbria Grants Panel since 2008 across two terms and currently holds the position of Vice Chair. He is also Vice Chair of the Copeland Youth Network, a member of the Hadfield Trust Advisory Panel, and serves on the Better Tomorrow Steering Group.

Paul brings extensive knowledge of the youth and voluntary sectors, along with a strong understanding of the Foundation’s grant-making processes and the challenges facing communities across Cumbria. Widely respected throughout the voluntary sector, particularly in West Cumbria, he is passionate about supporting the Foundation’s mission and helping to create lasting positive change for local communities.

Outside of his professional and voluntary commitments, Paul is a proud father of three young sons and enjoys spending time with his family. His interests include music, DJing, and football.
