Cumbria Club

The Cumbria Club welcomes everyone with a passion and love for Cumbria and the Lake District.

You don’t have to live in Cumbria to be a member – we welcome people from across the country.

Joining the Club is an opportunity to meet new and old friends at social events throughout the year. Our events range from small get togethers and dinners, to talks and larger gatherings with themes on all aspects of Cumbrian life.

Membership of the Cumbria Club presents an opportunity to engage with others with an interest in the many dimensions of Cumbria, including our landscape, communities, culture, environment, economy and history. The Cumbria Club supports the Cumbria Community Foundation, a charitable foundation that uses its endowed funds and direct donations to provide grants that address disadvantage across Cumbria.

Our events have included
• a private view at Castlegate Gallery in Cockermouth
• an online panel discussion with leading Cumbrian business leaders.
• talks on carbon zero for Cumbria with presentations by Prof. Mike Berners Lee
• a dinner party prepared by TV chef, Peter Sidwell, at a beautiful private house in the heart of the Lake District.

More recently we held a drinks reception in London with Lord Melvyn Bragg as our guest speaker.

As well as enjoying wonderful events, becoming a member also means your membership fee goes straight to support the work of Cumbria Community Foundation – meaning you can do good as well as having a good time!

“I arrived not knowing any of the guests you had invited but left with some new friendships that I’m sure I will keep in touch with” – London drinks reception attendee.
