Fixing the Fells and turning lives around

4th August 2025

A grant of £1,015 to the Lake District Foundation has enabled the Fix the Fells project to carry out vital repairs to the path at Far Easedale Greenup. A spokesperson said: “Our incredible rangers and volunteers worked together to shore up sections of path along the official Coast to Coast route. Thank you for making this essential work possible.”

One volunteer, previously struggling with their mental health, said: “Volunteering with Fix the Fells has turned my life around. I’ve gained a group of friends, feel proud of the work we do and get a buzz when people say, ‘thanks for all your hard work’.”

This funding came from the Jeffrey Bond Memorial Fund, which was created from a legacy gift to support nature conservation and the environment in Cumbria.
