A local youth theatre in Egremont has been able to purchase much-needed materials for set production props and costumes with support from the Shepley Group Fund.

Classes are contributing to the well-being of the young people, engaging 6-18 year-olds in the arts in a positive empowering way.
The Young Leaders Programme runs alongside the rehearsals and performances. Volunteers aged 16-25 learn practical dramatic teaching skills, gaining confidence to help run the classes. This experience helps them build a portfolio for interviews, classes and auditions. Starstruck Youth Theatre uses the creative process to increase and improve self-esteem, confidence, social skills and behaviour.

Anita Kelly, Director said: “Starstruck hopes to be a growing part of the community for years to come, and thanks to the funding from the Shepley Grant, this will be made possible. The new equipment, stage sets and costumes will be enjoyed by many children who may have not had the opportunity to otherwise be involved in such fun and exciting extra-curricular activities as dance and theatre.”
