Lord Bragg Fund for Wigton

Grants for individuals aged 11-25 who reside or study in Wigton, or for groups supporting children and young people in Wigton, to engage in positive activities and/or access education or training which raises aspirations. Applications from individuals who live in the town of Wigton will be the priority.

Who can apply?
• Individuals (aged 11-25) who live, or study, or have studied, in the town of Wigton and are facing ‘challenging circumstances’ for whom the grant would make a significant difference.

Examples of ‘challenging circumstances’ include:
• low-income household
• recent bereavement, e.g., of a parent/carer or sibling
• terminal/chronic illness or terminal illness of a parent/carer or sibling
• care-experienced
• is experiencing, or has been impacted by, domestic violence and abuse
• young carer for a close family member
• has been, is, or at risk of, being excluded from school or college
• at risk of leaving school and becoming NEET

Applications from individuals must be supported by a teacher/lecturer from the designated school or Further Education college.

• Groups supporting young people that live in the town of Wigton to develop skills that will equip them for adult life.

Examples of what the Fund will support:
• costs associated with work-experience activities
• an instrument for a talented musician
• a theatre workshop for a talented actor
• training costs for an aspiring athlete
• life skills sessions focussing on a finance, housing, and money management

How much can you apply for?
• Grants for individuals will normally be up to £1,000 over one year.
• Groups should contact the Grants Officer to discuss their project before applying.
