
Grants for direct victims of all types of crime or anti-social behaviour who reside in Cumbria and who:
• are in urgent need, distress, hardship, or sickness because of crime; and
• are vulnerable; and
• need help to cope, to recover, or to avoid re-victimisation; and
have limited resource and little or no other funding available to them.

Who can apply?
• individuals. Applicants cannot apply directly; they must be supported by an independent case worker or professional involved with the case.
What the Fund will not normally support:
• furniture, carpets, and household items, other than basic essentials
• CCTV
• damage to motor vehicles
• uninsured loss
Trustees may be willing to consider such matters in very exceptional/rare circumstances.
What the Fund will NOT support (in addition to our normal exclusions):
• debt, whether incurred by the victim or someone else
• counselling/therapy
• education/training
• overseas travel or expeditions
• administrative equipment or expenses
• groups or statutory agencies
Additional guidance for professionals:
• items requested should relate to quality budget items and basic needs rather than premium models.
• some evidence of a crime is required, either through provision of a crime reference number OR through the sponsor’s reasonable belief and/or circumstantial evidence, e.g., police referral, spoken with a neighbour of the victim., etc.
• there should usually be a close connection (either in time or cause) between the crime and the application.
How much can you apply for?
There is no maximum award amount; however, as a guide, grants typically range from £200 – £700 depending on the applicant’s needs.
