Grants for activities and equipment which support disabled people in Cumbria. Priority will be given to groups supporting vocational work and training in the Carlisle area.
The original Cumbria Industries Amenities Fund was set up to assist the workers at the Workshops for the Blind in Carlisle. With the extension of the Workshop to include disabilities generally, the terms of the Fund were also widened in the 1980’s.
The Fund was transferred to the Community Foundation by the County Council in 2008.
Who can apply?
• Voluntary and community organisations helping disabled people in the Carlisle area, particularly those supporting vocational work or training
What will the fund support?
Grants to groups to provide or support vocational training or education for disabled people.
What the fund will not support:
• non-charitable sports or arts organizations
• promotion of religious doctrine
• vehicle purchase costs
How much can you apply for?
Maximum grant size usually £500 over one year but larger grants can be discussed.
