Overview
Grants for charitable projects that address one or more of Cumbria Community Foundation’s two key priorities for funding.

Donor
The Cumbria Fund is collectively funded by a number donors and fundholders.

Priorities
Theme 1) Improving Lives,
 with four priority areas:
• Reducing Poverty – providing opportunities to lift people out of poverty
• Reaching Potential – providing skills, education and training
• Improving Health – helping people live healthier, happier lives
• Tackling Social Inequality – promoting equality and inclusion

Theme 2) Strengthening Communities, with two priority areas:
• Nurturing Sense of Place – creating stronger and inclusive communities
• Acting on Climate Change – taking local action to strengthen communities and people’s ability to be resilient and respond to climate change

Examples of projects supported:
• advisory services on tackling debt and benefit entitlement
• youth mentoring and skills development programmes
• community mental health drop-in sessions
• language classes for refugees and asylum seekers
• digital access support in rural communities
• community-led climate action workshops

Revenue (operational) costs will be prioritised over capital (infrastructure or equipment) costs since these costs will have a more immediate and sustained impact on communities.

Charitable, not-for-profit organisations

What the Fund will not support in addition to our normal exclusions:
Individuals

How much can you apply for?
Grants will normally be up to £10,000 or less over one year.
Multi-year funding may be awarded for certain projects.
