An online community group raising £1,000 to give flood-affected Cumbrians a communal Christmas Day with food, gifts and entertainment.
Head chef at The Fox and The Pheasant, in Armathwaite, Richard Francis, wanted to give to those who’d lost everything in the floods a Christmas dinner so they could still enjoy the holiday.
After the idea took off on Facebook, his original plans expanded to become a search for venues across Cumbria to host such an event.
Already venues have been booked in Penrith, Carlisle and Cockermouth, that will hold the events and store gifts and food donated up until the day.
