Barbara was born and brought up in Barrow and practised there as a solicitor before being appointed a Judge in Carlisle in 2002.

As she worked in Crime and Family, she saw the levels of deprivation and the effect that has on people’s lives.

After she retired, she was asked to join the Furness Grants Committee and through that she has advanced her knowledge of charity work in Cumbria, particularly in Barrow.

She enjoys visiting the charities and seeing the difference grants from CCF are making.
