Kyle Bickley is invited to Join the Sponsor Speedway Scheme

Sponsor Speedway is pleased to announce Kyle Bickley as the third rider joining the Sponsor Speedway scheme. Kyle (10) from Workington started competing in grass track meetings with the Lancashire Junior Grass track Club in 2009 finishing forth out of eight in his first ever meeting. It was obvious to everyone at this point that Kyle was a natural which goes to prove some things really do run in the family (Kyle’s grandfather rode international level sidecar speedway for 15 years – his great grandfather also raced grass track).

Kyle went on to amass a nice collection of trophies from the four other events he entered. In 2010 and still in his first full year of racing, Kyle was crowned British Youth Grass Track Champion. It was at this point that dad (Tony) decided to buy him a second hand speedway bike. At first things look very promising and Kyle finished 4th in the first ever British U15’s 125cc Speedway Championship often racing against other boys 3 yrs older & this fantastic achievement was topped off with four further grass track club championships.

In 2011 Kyle continued were he left off on the grass but speedway was a bit up and down with some good results and some crashes. One week before the British Grass Track Championships Kyle crashed in a training accident and badly fractured his right leg. He was devastated not to be able to defend his championship but this layoff made the family realise they had unfinished business on the shale & towards the end of last year started training hard at Northside & Scunthope speedway and getting in many laps at Redcar where Kyle had recently been made the club’s mascot.
Kyle has recently rode in two rounds of the Scunthorpe Speedway Winter Series scoring a impressive 18 point maximum & clocking up a 66.3 fastest ever time on a 125cc around the Eddie Wright Raceway & although in round two suffered from engine problems he still holds the lead in the championship with one round to go.
Kyle see’s his future in speedway and will be competing in all six rounds of the 2012 British U16 Speedway Championship at 125cc class & also entering the UEM Int meetings in Germany, France & Holland. With all these meetings and redcar second halfs you would think that would be enough for the Bickley family, but no because Kyle is still fully committed to competing on the grass for this season at least so if you see a Fiat van whizzing up & down the country there is a very good chance you have just witnessed team Bickley doing Great Britain & Sponsor Speedway proud. We would like to wish Kyle every success in 2012 and look forward to supporting him for many years to come. Check out his video here.
