North Copeland Youth Partnership

14th November 2013

The youth organisation was awarded the funding as part of a three year scheme of grants. The money will be put towards running activities that improve the health and wellbeing of young people in the villages of Lowca, Parton and Moresby.

Valda Young, Youth Development Coordinator said: “The first grant of £9,420 has enabled our organisation to set up a youth club at Moresby as well as Parton and we are open 4 nights per week in Parton. On Thursdays the club is open in Parton as well as Moresby offering young people a variety of different opportunities and activities. These include fitness, dance, outdoor activities, community events and theatre trips. We have an annual Fun Day and the day is supported by the community with good numbers who attend this day. We support young people and community members to do beach and village cleans that makes the area a better place for all ages.”

“The training opportunities that we offer young people give them skills and qualifications that can be taken into adulthood. The community work that we deliver makes them more active in their community and they are keen to make improvements that make the area a nicer place to live. We also give young people the opportunity to express their views through the Youth Council and support them to go to Parish Council meetings and Howgate Ward meetings.”
