Lamont Pridmore supports Workington youth project

15th November 2014

A Workington youth project has been given a cash boost from family-run Cumbrian chartered accountancy firm, Lamont Pridmore.

Managed by Cumbria Community Foundation, the Lamont Pridmore Fund provides grants to organisations that work with children and young people in West Cumbria.

£2,000 was awarded to South Workington Youth Partnership towards the running of the club, which is based in the Youth Wing of Moss Bay’s St. Mary’s Parish Church.2014-09-22 Lamont Pridmore - 001

Angela Good from South Workington Youth Partnership said: “Without the fantastic generosity of Lamont Pridmore, the youth group couldn’t provide as much support for all its members.”

The project runs youth sessions for 11-18 year olds called Megamix and a Multimix group for disabled young people. They have their own Young Leaders programme that run the Youth Council, providing links with local schools, police and other youth organisations.

Graham Lamont, Chief Executive of Lamont Pridmore, said:  “We are delighted that that our fund is able to support the South Workington Youth Partnership.  This is an important organisation which provides new opportunities and experiences for young people of West Cumbria, helping them to gain valuable life skills and raise their levels of aspiration.

“Both my son, Chris, a partner at the firm, and I were born in West Cumbria and we wanted to give something back to our local communities.

“The Lamont Pridmore Fund is well looked after by Cumbria Community Foundation.  They enable us to support the causes and projects that we care about while taking good care of our investment.”

Cumbria Community Foundation works with donors, businesses and communities to decide how funds should be awarded.  Using its grant making expertise, the Foundation supports the community, awarding grants that deliver a lasting impact.

Annalee Holliday, Grants and Donor Services Officer of Cumbria Community Foundation said: “Graham and his team are a fantastic example of how a local company can give back and support their community. The Lamont Pridmore Fund is now worth over £50,000 and will be a lasting legacy to the people of West Cumbria”.
