Gary is the Head of Socio-Economics at Sellafield Ltd and is never afraid to take on a challenge! His interests include long distance cycling, eating pies and drinking ale (sometimes all at once!). In his spare time Gary organises an annual New Year’s dip in the sea at Whitehaven for charity, is Chair of Governors of Beckstone Primary in Harrington and is a member of Workington Lions. He took on the Stickle Tarn sleep out in 2013 for the Winter Warmth Appeal, joining Andy Beeforth in sleeping under the stars.
Martyn is the Managing Director of South Lakes based Russell Armer Homes. Martyn is no stranger to sleeping out in challenging conditions having recently slept out in Namibia. A keen supporter of the Foundation’s Jennings Rivers Ride, Martyn also took part in the Big Sleep 2015.
Dennis is the Managing Director of the Low Level Waste Repository in West Cumbria. Originally hailing from the USA, Dennis moved to Cumbria in 2008. He is not put off by the Big Sleep challenge nor the Cumbrian winter climate, having spent a lifetime embracing outdoor pursuits. In his spare time, Dennis enjoys working with the local youngsters to help them realise their full potential. With his wife Julie he has established a youth club through his local church.
Peter is the Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner and took part in the 2017 Big Sleep for the first time. He said: ” It was my birthday the weekend of the Big Sleep, what a way to wake up on your birthday looking out on Lake Windermere. It’s a great way to spend time with folk, soaking up the atmosphere and raising money for the Winter Warmth appeal. It certainly makes a nice change from the hurly burly of crime and politics!”
