Toasting the launch of new £2.5m fund
Nuclear Management Partnership Ltd (NMP) and Cumbria Community Foundation will be toasting the launch a new £2.5 million charitable fund for people and community groups in West Cumbria with the children of Monkwray Breakfast Club to launch the NMP Community Fund on the 30th April 2009.
The aim of the fund is to help improve the lives of people in West Cumbria by raising their aspirations and achievements. The NMP Community Fund will support activities that help people learn new things and get involved in their community.
Tom Zarges, Chairman of the board of Nuclear Management Partners, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Cumbria Community Foundation, which has a proven record of supporting community activity in the area, and I know that together, NMP and the Foundation will make a real difference in West Cumbria.”
Andy Beeforth, Cumbria Community Foundation Director said “The Community Foundation is very pleased to be working in partnership with NMP. The £2.5 million will be spent over the next 5 years. The fund will provide valuable investment in people and communities helping to keep West Cumbria strong and able to embrace the challenges we face.”
The Fund will give grants to community based projects and community facilities like village halls and community centres to ensure there are things to do on people’s doorsteps, whether it be a local cookery course, visiting an art gallery, playing sport or helping parents get involved with their children’s learning outside of school.
The NMP Community Fund will also include bursaries for young people and adults on low incomes to help them get a qualification.
