Beck Burn Wind Farm Community Fund Educational Bursaries

Education and training grants for individuals over the age of 16 living within the Parish/Community Councils of Rockcliffe, Westlinton, Arthuret, Kirkandrews-on-Esk, Springfield & Gretna Green, Kirkpatrick Fleming & District, Canonbie & District and Gretna & Rigg, who are enrolled on a further education or training course to develop their skills and employability.

What can be funded?
Individuals can be studying any subject, but priority will be given to vocational courses as follows:
• priority 1: renewables & energy-related
• priority 2: engineering, construction, health and safety, other STEM-related
• priority 3: courses which will benefit local employment such as childcare, forestry, plumbing, joinery, electrical and other trades, haulage, and agriculture
• priority 4: other education courses

How much can I apply for?
The award amount will depend on the course. See chart below.

Courses (1 year or more)
Figures below show the maximum award amount per individual per year. Award levels are based on year of study and/or year of application, e.g., a student in Year 4 of degree but first-time applicant may be considered for £900 award and/or £600 equipment grant. Individuals can apply for a £600 equipment grant in Year 1 and/or the first time of application. (Please note that you do not need to complete a separate application for an equipment grant; just include the equipment costs in your Year 1/first application).

Part-time courses (1 year or more)
The level of grant award will depend on the course and the individual’s situation.

Short term courses (less than 1 year)
The level of grant will depend on the course and the individual’s situation. The grant may cover part or all the course fee, along with £15 per day to help offset the cost of travel, childcare and subsistence.
