How to Give to the
Barrow Community Trust is run and managed by Cumbria Community Foundation. The Community Foundation was invited by the Heart of Barrow initiative to establish a long-term fund for Barrow. A committee appointed by the Trustees of the Cumbria Community Foundation manages the Barrow Community Trust. The Trust has its own fundraising and grant making committees and is a restricted fund within the Foundation.
Barrow Community Trust is a special Fund for the Borough of Barrow in Furness.
It is a joint Cumbria Community Foundation and Heart of Barrow initiative and is
run and managed by a committee of local people, chosen for their knowledge of
the community.
The Trust was set up in 2001 with the aim of providing much needed grant support to the many voluntary and community groups already working extremely hard to improve the quality of life of the people of Barrow.
Donations to the Trust are invested to generate an income in perpetuity for grant
making within the Borough. With generous support from many people and
organisations the Trust will build a growing source of money for local charities.
The Trust's aim is not only to help tackle the needs of today, but also to develop
the means to do even more to address the needs of future generations.
