Easy to access grants for groups in West Cumbria and Barrow

Funded by Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), British Nuclear Group Sellafield Ltd on behalf of the NDA and UKAEA

Who can apply?

Groups based in Allerdale, Barrow and Copeland

Last year we gave 26 grants for an average of £1,974 and approved 62% of applications

Priorities

  • The Sellafield Site Fund will prioritise activities which support the quality of life for people living in West Cumbria
  • The fund will target activities which promote employment, skills development, raise aspirations and attainment amongst young people and which foster leadership skills
  • The primary beneficiaries of the fund will be children, young people, people on low incomes, the unemployed, people experiencing mental health problems, people affected by alcohol and drug misuse and older adults 

Examples of activities that have been supported

* computer training facility

* support to families in need

* training for advice workers

* drop in centre running costs

* village hall improvements

* gardening scheme for those on low incomes

* youth activities

How much can you apply for?

The maximum grant will normally be £5,000

We will not fund

* computers except in special circumstances

* expeditions

* individuals

* non-charitable sport or arts

* outings except in special circumstances

* photocopiers

* promotion of religious doctrine

* vehicle purchase costs
