Who can apply?

* groups with an annual income up to £25,000 in the last financial year
* groups helping people facing disadvantage
* you must be in one of these areas:
Appleby in Westmorland
Broughton in Furness
Carlisle
Holme
Kendal
* applications from new and small groups are particularly welcome

Last year we gave 2 grants of £300 and £1,000

Examples of activities supported

* new first responder groups
* inclusive play area
* football club changing room refurbishment
* equipment for gymnastics training

We will not fund

* computers
* expeditions
* individuals
* non-charitable sports or arts
* outings except in special circumstances
* photocopiers
* promotion of religious doctrine
* revenue costs
* vehicle purchase costs

How much can you apply for?

* maximum grant will normally be £1,000
* projects should cost no more than £25,000

We also administer a number of small funds using the same criteria which cover specific areas or ages (Cumbria Communities Fund, CN Group Fund, Cumberland and Westmorland Herald Fund, Edmond Castle Educational Trust, Kipling Fund for older people, Kipling Fund for younger people) and will automatically consider appropriate applications
