Who can apply?

* groups helping people facing disadvantage

* you must be in one of these areas:

Dalston
Kendal
Kirkby Lonsdale
Penrith

* applications from new and small groups are particularly welcome

Last year we gave grants of £800

Examples of activities supported
* new first responder groups
* inclusive play area
* football club changing room refurbishment
* equipment for gymnastics training

We will not fund
* computers
* expeditions
* individuals
* non-charitable sports or arts
* outings except in special circumstances
* photocopiers
* promotion of religious doctrine
* revenue costs except where it can be shown that a grant will help the sustainability of the group         
* vehicle purchase costs

How much can you apply for?
* maximum grant will normally be £1,000 over one year
* projects should cost no more than £25,000

We also administer a number of small funds using the same criteria which cover specific areas or ages (CN Group Fund, Cumberland and Westmorland Herald Fund, Foundation Grants, Kipling Fund for older people, Kipling Fund for younger people) and will automatically consider appropriate applications
