Robin Rigg West Cumbria Fund

Grants available to communities undertaking activities that contribute to reducing the effects of climate change and benefit the local community
Funded by an annual donation from E.ON UK, the Robin Rigg off-shore wind farm developer
£47,500 available this year
Who can apply?
Voluntary or community groups or community partnerships that operate in West Allerdale (Workington to Silloth and inland to Embleton)*
Priorities
Projects that

  • promote sustainable use of energy and energy efficiency
  • encourage sustainable use of resources and reducing climate change
  • support nature conservation
  • address other community environmental needs identified in local community based plans

Examples of activities the fund could support:

  • energy efficiency improvements to community buildings
  • practical workshops about reducing our energy consumption
  • development of small scale recycling projects including furniture, clothing, and paint
  • outreach services to rural residents, especially children and young and elderly people, that reduce the number of car trips to local towns

We will not fund

  • enhancement of habitat for sporting purposes
  • playground or school ground improvements
  • beautification competitions (eg villages in bloom)
  • computers or photocopiers
  • individuals

How much can you apply for?

  • £1,000 – £15,000
  • capital costs will be one off grants, revenue costs may be paid over one to three years
