Easy-to-access grants for young people (11-21 years) wanting support to travel abroad

Funded by Mary Grave Trust and administered by Cumbria Community Foundation

£70,000 available this year

Last year we gave 142 grants for an average of £927 and approved 84% of applications

Who can apply?

Individuals 11-21 years (must have attended full time education within the last two years)

* living in the old county of Cumberland (excluding Carlisle)
* priority given to those living in Workington, Maryport and Whitehaven areas

This is a means tested grant programme. Applicants' total family income must be less than £450 per week (excluding all benefits)

Examples of activities supported

* youth organisation or school trips
* gap year activities
* work experience activities
* activities that are part of a further or higher education course

We will not fund

* trips in Cumbria
* trips in UK of less than three nights' duration
* individuals born in Carlisle (unless mother resident outside Carlisle at the time of birth)
* individuals born outside the old County of Cumberland
* family holidays

How much can you apply for?

The maximum grant will normally be £932
