Edmond Castle Educational Trust

for activities and equipment which support the education and training of disadvantaged young people in Cumbria (prioritising young people who are or have been looked after by Cumbria County Council)

Funded by Edmond Castle Educational Trust. The Community Foundation manages the application process and decisions are made by the Trust's Trustees

£6,000 available this year

Last year we gave 12 grants for an average of £936 and approved 61% of applications

Examples of activities supported

* Youth Outreach received a grant for transport costs for a holiday activity programme

* Howgill Family Centre received a grant for computer equipment

* Thomlinson Junior School received a grant to set up a sensory room

* Various grants to individuals for computer equipment, fees for childcare and other activities which extend opportunities and which make a difference to the lives of young people

What will the Trust support?

The Trust supports a wide range of groups and individuals

* projects that provide new opportunities for young people to train and learn

* activities that help build self confidence and skills

* activities which promote civic engagement and leadership

equipment of course fees

We will not fund

* activities which are the statutory duty of government

* people aged 21 or over

How much can you apply for?

* Awards to individuals: maximum grant size usually £500
* Awards to voluntary groups: maximum grant size usually £1,000

Last year we gave 10 grants for an average of £580 and approved 91% of applications.
