Easy-to-access grants for small projects and groups

Funded by Cumbria Community Foundation long term capital funds

£35,000 available this year

Who can apply?

* groups with an annual income up to £25,000 in the last financial year
* groups helping people facing disadvantage
* applications from new and small groups are particularly welcome

Last year we gave 70 grants for an average of £655 and approved 68% of applications

Examples of activities supported

* new first responder groups
* new residents' group
* plastic recycling cage
* equipment for youth club
* exercise classes for older people
* craft fair
* village hall refurbishment
* disability sports

We will not fund

* computers
* expeditions
* individuals
* non-charitable sports or arts
* outings except in special circumstances
* photocopiers
* promotion of religious doctrine
* revenue costs
* vehicle purchase costs

How much can you apply for?

* maximum grant will normally be £1,000
* projects should cost no more than £25,000

We also administer a number of small funds using the same criteria which cover specific areas or ages (eg CN Group Fund, Cumberland and Westmorland Herald Fund, Kipling Fund for older people, Kipling Fund for younger people, Roselands Trust, Russell Armer Fund) and will automatically consider appropriate applications
