To widen access to sport and the arts

The Foundation is a separate charity of which the Cumbria Community Foundation is a trustee

£15,000 available this year

Aims to support the education of young people

Supports young people aged under 25 who live or whose parents live in the former county of Cumberland (Copeland, Allerdale, Carlisle and the northern part of Eden districts)

Who can apply?
* voluntary and community groups
* individuals

Last year we gave 8 grants for an average of £800 and approved 45% of applications

Examples of activities supported
* skiing trip for disadvantaged group
* members of county and national teams
* national and international training opportunities
* introducing young people to sport and the arts
* disability sports

We will not fund
* statutory organisations eg schools or parish councils
* non-charitable sports or arts activities
* promotion of religious doctrine
* people outside the geographic area of the former county of Cumberland

How much can you apply for?
* there is no upper or lower limit but grants would usually be under £1,000 over one year
* income is taken into account in assessing applications
