Applying for a grant: Appeals procedure

Appeals
If an applicant is unhappy with the refusal decision the following procedure should be followed:

  • An applicant may request a fuller informal explanation.  This will be given by a Grants Officer within seven working days of a formal complaint being received.
  • An application would go back to the next meeting of the relevant Grant  Committee for reconsideration if:
  • the grants officer wishes it to
  • the original committee made the decision on the basis of a mistake
  • the applicant wishes to put before the committee information about the application which, through no fault of the applicant, was not available to the applicant at the time when the original application was made

Should the decision be confirmed and the applicant still not be satisfied,
further appeal should be made to the funder (eg Coalfields Regeneration
Trust, County Council) or to the Foundation’s Trustees in respect of Foundation funds.
