About the High Sheriff’s Fund

The High Sheriff of Cumbria’s Morecambe Bay Charity Walk is held to raise money for the High Sheriff’s Crimebeat Fund.

There are many young people in our County who do not enjoy the support that comes from a close family. They can make bad choices because they think that they have no one to turn to.

Martyn Hart, the High Sheriff of Cumbria want to help these youngsters by providing support, activities and a helping hand to allow them to fulfil their undoubted potential. This can be through a wide range of youth groups which give them a better set of choices and enable them to flourish.

This, in turn helps young people become better citizens to the benefit of our whole community. All funds raised in our County are used for the benefit of the people of Cumbria.

The purpose of the Fund is to support young people who sadly have already become involved in the youth justice system, or vulnerable youngsters who may be susceptible to making poor decisions and, as a consequence, could be in danger of becoming entangled with the law.  It has shared objectives with the National Crimebeat Fund – The Youth Crime Prevention Charity of the High Sheriff’s Association of England and Wales.
